University of Washington Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits &
Philanthropy
For ten years this one-day conference has been the premier
gathering of nonprofit leaders, supporters and board members
coming together to explore what it means to truly be a community
leader in this sector. This year, more than 300 nonprofit leaders
representing a wide variety of nonprofit organizations from
across Washington State will gather for a day of insight, education,
practical learning and renewal. Dr. Paul Light, Senior Fellow
and Governance Studies Director at the Center for Public Service
of the Brookings Institution will provide the keynote address.
Exploring the theme “The Leadership Opportunity: Nonprofits
and the Public Good” , this conference will provide executives
and board members of nonprofits throughout the region a chance
to reflect on many of the most important issues facing nonprofit
leaders today. Not only must we excel at what we do, we must
also be able to effectively communicate that knowledge to diverse
constituent groups. We must ourselves both understand and effectively
transmit the value of the work that we do for the public good.
Beyond the daily requirement of running effective organizations,
these are issues we must be addressing: Winning the Public Trust,
Engaging Decision Makers, Shaping the Public’s Attitudes,
Enhancing Organizational Health, Mastering the Complexity of
Outcomes, Communicating the Value of the Nonprofit Sector.
Dr. Paul Light, Keynote Speaker
We are honored to be joined in these explorations by Dr. Paul
Light, of the Brookings Institution and New York University.
Dr. Light will open the conference discussing how we can lead
not only to meet the challenges of our own organizations but
also to further public benefit work for the community in general.
He will join us in further discussions throughout the day as
we call on community leaders and local experts to present tested
tools, share wisdom, knowledge and research and so we can ask
the right questions that will lead us in the right directions.
The program is designed with break-out sessions to appeal to
varying interests. We invite you to join us for a day of learning,
insight and renewal amongst your peers.
